STATE COLLEGE -- In Centre County, police say they have identified suspects believed to have broken into nearly a dozen cars earlier this week. State College Police tell the Centre Daily Times that most of the stolen items have been recovered. Police say charges are pending. The vehicles were parked along Irvin Avenue, Old Boalsburg Road, Stratford Drive and Southgate Drive. According to the report, police are still working to determine if the suspects were also involved in a handful of car break-ins on Wednesday.

PORT CARBON - A Schuylkill County man charged with an armed robbery at the Red&White Market in North Manheim Township on June 30th waived his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday morning.
26-year old William Kistler of Cressona, waived a hearing on charges of robbery, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, terroristic threats, firearms charges and other related counts. He showed a gun during the robbery and left the store with about $4800 dollars. Kistler was arrested in Virginia.
In a separate case, the Republican Herald reports, Kistler waived his right to a hearing on charges of theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and retail theft in connection with an April 26th incident at Sam's Place in the Cressona Mall.

STATE COLLEGE - A Centre County man was charged by State College police Wednesday with shoving his girlfriend down a set of stairs. 18-year old Reid Saupe of Pine Grove Mills, faces assault charges for the incident. He was taken to jail on $30,000 bail.

MILE RUN - A Snyder County woman is charged with assault after hitting a Lycoming County motorcyclist with her vehicle. Troopers say 41-year old Denise Klapp of Selinsgrove was arguing with 42-year old Steven Klapp of Montgomery on Wednesday afternoon along Mile Run Road in West Buffalo Township, Union County, when she got inside her vehicle and then drove the vehicle into Steven Klapp's motorcycle while he was still sitting on it. Steven Klapp suffered minor leg and arm injuries and his motorcycle was damaged. Police are continuing to investigate.

WASHINGTONVILLE - A teenager hurt in a Northumberland County crash this morning. State Police say 51-year old Bonnie Gemmell of Drums was driving along Interstate 80 in Turbot Township this morning just before seven when she lost control of her car which then spun, hit a guard rail and then slammed into part of a concrete bridge with its passenger side. Gemmel and passenger, 18-year old Lindy Gemmell, weren't hurt. A 15-year old female passenger suffered what police say was a moderate injury and was taken to Evangelical Community Hospital.

BLOOMSBURG -- The cause of a Columbia County trailer fire is under investigation. Fire crews worked to douse flames last night along Montour Boulevard near Bloomsburg. Fifty-one year old Jim Showers was living in the trailer and was visiting with a neighbor when flames erupted. His cat died in the fire. Shower's mother, Shirley, tells the Press Enterprise that fire destroyed her mobile home in Texas 50 years ago. Shirley Showers owns the damaged trailer where her son was living. The report says she let the insurance lapse last year.

UNDATED -- While summer missionaries to Uganda continue their struggle to recovery, a memorial service is being planned to remember the victims of the July 11th bombing. A service has been scheduled for 4pm Sunday, August 15th at Christ Community United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove. Team member, Emily Kerstetter, is scheduled today to have another surgery to remove shrapnel on her injured legs. A fund to help with expenses has been established at Northumberland National Bank. Another team member - Kris Sledge, of Selinsgrove, remains in the hospital. He is recovering from injuries to his face and leg. SHAMOKIN -- Another 14 people are facing drug-related charges in Northumberland County. Authorities say it is part of an effort to cut off the flow of drugs from larger cities into areas in and around Shamokin. The Northumberland-Montour Drug Task Force apprehended the suspects yesterday morning. The Shamokin News-Item says 10 of the 14 are believed to be 'street-level' dealers and have been charged with felonies. Among those arrested yesterday were residents in Coal Township, Shamokin, Kulpmont, and Pottsville.

POTTSVILLE -- Four people have been charged with breaking into and damaging a Schuylkill County home. Frackville State Police say 3 of the young men are being charged as adults and were unable to post bail yesterday. They are 20-year old William Wallace, 18-year old Brett Wallace, and 22-year old David Nettles. All 3 are from Pottsville. A 17-year old, from Palo Alto, has been charged as a juvenile. On May 1st, police say the four broke into the home of Sharon Brish at 179-Market Street in Cumbola. Nearly 4-thousand dollars worth of items were taken and damage was estimated at more than 2-thousand dollars.

POTTSVILLE -- In Schuylkill County, the death penalty could await a Berks County man if he is found guilty of charges stemming from a deadly shooting. Thirty-year old Julius Enoe, of Reading, is among the three men accused of killing 24-year old Bruce Forker of Shenandoah. According to the Republican Herald, District Attorney James Goodman said yesterday he would seek the death penalty.

SUNBURY -- A Northumberland County man is jailed for assaulting a pair of teens this spring. The girls allegedly assaulted by 21-year old Thomas Sechler were ages 13 and 14. Sechler, who lives on the 400-block of Duke Street in Northumberland, is now jailed in lieu of 90-thousand dollars bail. Reports say the relationships were initiated through MySpace accounts.

WILLIAMSPORT -- A new partnership that's been over a year in the works came together yesterday as the Williamsport Bureau of Fire and Loyalsock Township Fire Department announced a plan to have two Williamsport Fire men staff the Township's fire station. Chief Dean Heinbach says the plan has evolved into a better working relationship with the Volunteer Company and it will definitely benefit the city's east end.

WILLIAMSPORT - Federal grant funding totaling nearly $5 million will enable Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport to serve as one of two regional hubs coordinating the delivery of job recruitment, training and placement services for the Marcellus Shale natural gas industry across several states. Penn College and Westmoreland County Community College will lead a consortium of colleges and training organizations tasked with training qualified workers in 69 counties in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

FOWLERSVILLE - A bridge deck rehabilitation project on Fowlersville Road in North Centre Township, Columbia County is scheduled to start on Monday. The bridge is on Fowlersville Road over the north branch of Briar Creek, just west of the intersection with Thomas Drive. A detour will go into effect Monday morning, using Golf Course Road, Route 11 and School House Road. The project is expected to be completed by mid-September.

ALLENTOWN - PPL Electric Utilities said yesterday it is securing power for 2011 at prices lower than its current cost to supply power to "default" customers - those who do not shop for generation service from competitive suppliers. With the continuing trend of lower market prices for power, the utility said it would likely be passing along a lower rate for its generation service to residential and small business customers who receive power supply from the utility, effective January 1st, 2011. However, the actual rate will not be known until December after additional purchases are made later this year.
