MOUNT CARMEL - A large search effort continues for a missing teenager in Northumberland County. Police say the teen didn’t come home after going for a run Monday night near Mount Carmel. Around 50 volunteers and rescue workers searched a wooded area behind Mount Carmel Area High School yesterday. Investigators believe that is where 17-year-old Mackenzie Greco, went running Monday. Police call the wooded area dangerous and say there are steep hills and rocky terrain. According to police, Greco of Marion Heights, went for a run and never came home. Police say his image showed up on a surveillance camera outside a building and that he was walking toward the high school, which is why investigators are focusing their search efforts there. Police say Greco was last seen wearing a red shirt, dark shorts and carrying a black and red backpack.

LEWISBURG – A Sunbury man is facing charges of kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault after he pointed a gun at a woman and then took a three –year-old girl from the woman. State Police say 19-year-old Darrin Simmons-Walton is charged with that incident Monday shortly after five pm at a home along Timberhaven Drive in Lewisburg. Police say the little girl was the daughter of Walton’s girlfriend. Police say Simmons-Walton violated a court order denying him contact with the little girl. The girl was unharmed and returned to her mother after police found Simmons-Walton in Sunbury and took him into custody. He’s now jailed on $150,000 bail.

BEECH CREEK – An autopsy was performed Saturday on the body of a baby found dead at his home. State police at Lamar are investigating the death of a 5-month old Brennon Irvin that happened Friday morning. Police say the baby was discovered dead around ten a.m. at 1029 Eagle Valley Road, Beech Creek Township. The autopsy was completed Saturday at Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College and the Clinton County Coroner believes the child died of natural causes.

WILLIAMSPORT – Police swarmed to an area of West Fourth Street in Williamsport yesterday for a deadly shooting. Police tell us just after two p.m. they were sent to 1261 West Fourth Street where 22-year-old Dante’ Marks had been shot in the chest and was lying on a couch in an apartment. Marks was taken to Williamsport Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police took two people into custody at the scene for questioning one of them being the shooter. Police also found a number of guns and other evidence in the apartment including the handgun involved in the shooting. Police have charged 19-year-old Da’Ran Sears of Williamsport with involuntary manslaughter and receiving stolen property among other charges. Sears told police that he and Marks and another person were in the apartment and they were handling the guns when the handgun discharged accidentally striking Marks in the chest.

UNDATED – Our region is under several storm related warnings this morning. Due to a band of strong storms forecasters say a severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until eleven this morning and a flood watch is also in effect until around eight this evening four our entire listening area. The storms could produce heavy rain, strong winds, lightening and hail. Our region is expected to receive anywhere from one to three inches of rain from the storms which could produce localized flooding in poor drainage and low lying areas. But after the storm a beautiful weekend is shaping up beginning tomorrow afternoon.

POTTSVILLE - Pottsville and State Police are investigating a homicide Tuesday night. Police say a 19-year-old man was shot along West Laurel Boulevard, near the Schuylkill County Courthouse, around 9 p.m. Investigators say it started with a fight between a group of individuals and escalated into a shooting. Police do not have anyone in custody at this time. They are searching for a green Subaru. Anyone with information is urged to give investigators a call.

LAMAR – State Police in Clinton County are investigating the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy. It happened yesterday at around 1:30 in Porter Township. Police say the teen, identified as Ty Yonkin, was shot with an air rifle and was taken to Lock Haven Hospital where he died from his injuries. An autopsy on the boy is scheduled, but troopers say that there is nothing suspicious about the case. Reports say the shooting was accidental.

SHAMOKIN – Fire and rescue crews were called out this morning to a roof collapse in Shamokin. The collapse happened around 6:30 a.m. at George Keiser’s plumbing at 34 West Chestnut Street. Northumberland County 9-1-1 officials tell us the roof of the building collapsed in on the structure. Crews remained in place until the City’s codes Administration could inspect the building. No injuries were reported in this morning’s roof collapse.

SHAMOKIN DAM - A Danville man was killed and Route 11 was shut down in an afternoon accident in Snyder County on Saturday. State Police say, 42-year-old Michael Weatherhill, lost control of the vehicle he was driving and hit a rocky embankment while he was heading South on Route 11 in Monroe Township. Another vehicle was involved in the accident, but the Danville teen and his teenaged passenger were not hurt. Police believe speed was a factor. Police say Weatherill was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Press Enterprise reports, the car Weatherhill was driving was stolen and Weatherhill didn’t have a license to drive.

WILLIAMSPORT – United States Marshals have caught the man who led Williamsport and other police agencies on a high speed chase through Williamsport and escaping into a wooded area Wednesday night in Lycoming County. 26-year-old Millard Beatty led police on that chase around seven p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of West Fourth Street in Williamsport. The chase continued through the city’s West End at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hours. It continued on numerous rural roads in the townships of Old Lycoming, Hepburn, Lycoming and Anthony. The suspect is accused of hitting several police vehicles while eluding authorities. Williamsport Police, numerous local law enforcement agencies, along with State Police, the U.S. Marshals Service and members of the US Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force combined efforts to search through a heavily wooded area in the 6500 block of Route 973 West in Anthony Township, where it was believed that Beatty fled from his heavily vehicle.

MILTON - Governor Tom Corbett visited the Borough of Milton in Northumberland County yesterday afternoon and spoke during the grand re-opening celebration of the ACF Industries’ rail car manufacturing plant. “Just four short years ago, this plant lay idle, one of the countless casualties of a national recession that cost millions of Americans their jobs and struck at the very heart of our nation’s confidence,” Corbett said. “But now, because of Pennsylvania ingenuity and innovation, our booming energy sector has led to an increase for demand in rail cars to transport goods,” Corbett said. ACF closed its Milton plant in 2009 because of declining sales. Current growth in the energy industry, especially in the Marcellus Gas region, has created a shortage of railroad storage tank cars and components, allowing ACF to re-open the plant. Already hiring 230 employees since its reopening, ACF expects to create a total of 333 jobs and retain 20 existing jobs in the next three years.
