MAHANOY CITY - Authorities say an early morning fire in a three-story apartment building in Mahanoy City in Schuylkill County claimed the lives of a couple and sent another person to the hospital, while leaving 13 people homeless. The two-alarm fire broke out just before two Saturday morning in the row home. Reports say home owners, 60-year-old Adele Seabra, was pronounced dead at the scene, while her husband 69-year-old Morris Seabra, was rescued, but later pronounced dead at a hospital. Fire officials say 90-year-old Edward Droginis was flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital where he remains in critical condition. A state police fire marshal was on the scene but could not determine an exact cause of the fire.

WILLIAMSPORT - Fire Crews in Williamsport were called out to a two-alarm structure fire just after five yesterday morning. Ten people in the home fled the flames which were visible from the rear of the two-story double-block home at 687 Seventh Avenue. Crews remained on the scene for about two hours battling that blaze. An investigation is underway into a cause of yesterday morning’s blaze.

AUBURN - It is believed an accidental fire destroyed a one-story home owned by 54 year old Larry Schwenk in South Manheim Township on Sunday afternoon. A supervisor at the Schuylkill County Communications office in Pottsville, reported that a passing motorist called in the fire at 12:39 p.m. By 2 p.m. the home was reduced to ashes. A vehicle Schwenk owns was parked near the home and sustained heat damage. The loss was estimated at more than $100,000.

LOCUST TOWNSHIP - Fire ripped through a shed early Saturday, heavily damaging the shed and a motorcycle inside it. The fire caused around $7,000 damage to that shed owned by 31-year-old Glen Wonsock, of Mountain View Estate. The Press Enterprise reports, the fire erupted around seven Saturday morning.

COAL TOWNSHIP – A Shamokin man lost his life in an off road motorcycle crash last evening. Coal Township Police tell us 37-year-old Malcolm Walburn died when he lost control of his dirt bike just after seven last evening. Police say the crash happened on a dirt road just off route 225 in Coal Township. Police are continuing their investigation.

LAMAR – A Brooklyn, New York woman was killed and two others from Brooklyn were injured in a crash on Interstate 80 in Clinton County yesterday. The crash happened just before eight a.m. on the Interstate’s eastbound lanes in Porter Township. State Police say Fahdah Nasser was killed in the crash while 22-year-old Mohamed Alahmadi suffered moderate injuries and the driver of the car 30-year-old Amen Alahmadi suffered minor injuries. Police say their vehicle left the highway and rolled several times hitting several trees and bushes. Police say Nasser was thrown from the car during the crash. She was flown to Geisinger where she later died. The other two were taken to Lock Haven Hospital.

POTTSVILLE - A 17 year old boy's body was found Saturday morning and it appears he died as the result of a motorcycle accident. Pottsville police say he died between 2:00 a.m. and 9:305 a.m. Pottsville police say Raymond Tropp, of Skidmore Street, found the body, according to Pottsville police. Police are continuing the investigation.

MCCLURE - An ATV rider remains in fair condition following a chase by police Friday night in Mifflin County.  Police say 42-year-old Rex Reed was riding illegally on Shindle Road in Decatur Township, around 8:00p.m., when police attempted to pull him over.  Reed took off leading police on the chase which ended when Reed lost control of his ATV and hit a utility pole. Police say Reed was not wearing a helmet.  He was flown to Geisinger Medical Center. Police also say Reed was riding the ATV while drunk.

SELINSGROVE - Two people were injured in a Snyder County crash Friday night. State Police say 32-year-old Andrew Wilson of Mount Pleasant Mills was driving on Route 104 in Washington Township just before five p.m. Police say Wilson swerved into the opposite lane and struck a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Lyle Krick of Middleburg. Wilson was taken to Geisinger Medical Center and is listed in fair condition. Troopers say Krick received minor injuries.

SUNBURY - A Sunbury woman remains in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash in Rockefeller Township Friday that shut down traffic on Route 890 for about an hour around noon. Police say 84-year-old Darlis Garman was taken to Geisinger Medical Center. Police say Garman pulled out from Kehres Road onto Route 890 into the path of a pick-up truck driven by 39-year-old Jonathan Malick, of Sunbury. Malick suffered minor injuries in the crash.

BLOOMSBURG - Police are looking for the driver who struck a woman crossing Main Street in Bloomsburg on Friday afternoon and then took off. The hit-and-run pedestrian crash happened around 4:30 p.m. on East Main Street at Iron Street. The Press Enterprise reports, the woman was it by a dark blue Acura Integra. The woman, in her late 20’s, complained of hip pain and was taken to Geisinger-Bloomsburg Hospital. The Acura Integra has a large wing on the back, black front and rear bumpers and chrome rims. Anyone with information on the vehicle is asked to call Bloomsburg Town Police.

BELLEFONTE - Several from Bellefonte, including an 8-year-old boy, were injured in a four-vehicle crash Friday morning in Boggs Township, Centre County. State police say 33-year-old Jamie Lehman, rear-ended another vehicle which pushed it into a third vehicle on Route 144 in a school zone. Lehman and an 8-year-old boy in her vehicle suffered what police called moderate injuries in the crash. 39-year-old Jennifer Perry, of Milesburg and a 14-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries. All four were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment.

LEWISBURG – A Lewisburg area man is facing child endangerment and reckless endangerment charges after a four-year-old girl broke her arm in a crash while riding an ATV with the man. State Police have charged 49-year-old Jeffery Thomas following the incident back in February. The crash happened on property near 3800 Crossroads Drive in Kelly Township. Police say Thomas was also hurt in the crash.

NEWPORT – Three people from Newport have been arrested for a home invasion and robbery in Western Perry County earlier this year. Around 2:30 a.m., February 25th a woman living on Mauk Drive in Saville Township was assaulted and held down while her home ransacked by three robbers who got away with a gun money and jewelry. Now police say they have the three in custody. Police have charged 21-year-old Tottian Winston, 28-year-old Jennifer Shetrom, and 24-year-old Torrene Sears with robbery, unlawful restraint and related counts. Police say the break-in is still under investigation and anyone with information on the incident is asked to call state police, Newport.

POTTSVILLE - Two men are being sought in connection with an armed robbery in Pottsville Friday morning. Police say just after nine a.m. they were called to 309 West Norwegian Street, for a robbery involving a handgun. At the scene, they learned that two men entered an apartment with a handgun and threatened a 28-year-old man and took his wallet. They also threatened a 28-year-old woman in the apartment. After the robbery, the men ran out of the building and got into a silver vehicle that was waiting outside, driven by a woman. Anyone with information on the armed robbery is asked to call Pottsville Police.

MUNCY - Two convicted felons are now back behind bars on charges of spotlighting and killing nine deer in Lycoming County as well as stealing two pigs from a farmer's barn, and then butchering them. The State Game Commission have filed charges against, 20-year-old Nick Kissinger, and 19-year-old Brett Reynolds for the incident between early January and mid-February. The two are charged with breaking into the pig barn located along Moreland Baptist Road near Unityville and stealing two hogs. The two are also charged with jack-lighting the deer and butchering them as well from near Kissinger’s home and an area along Brouse Road in Clinton Township. Kissinger has been convicted in late 2011 for breaking into Dixie's Gunshop in Hughesville and Reynolds is on probation for felony trespassing. Both men are jailed on $50,000 bail.

MOUNT UNION - A Mill Creek man was arrested on Saturday and faces felony charges after a police chase that began in Mount Union, ended in a McVeytown foot chase. Police say 21-year-old Vincent Thompson jumped from a moving vehicle and took off running in McVeytown after a pursuit that started around 1:30 a.m. on North Jefferson Street and West Pennsylvania Avenue in Mount Union. State Police eventually caught Thompson and charged him with felony aggravated assault and fleeing police among other charges. He’s now jailed on $25,000 bail.

MIDDLEBURG - Jury selection will begin today for three men accused of killing a New Berlin man in July 1997. 38-year-old Christopher Aucker and 37-year-old Robert Reich both of Beavertown and 36-year-old Ryan Sprenkel of Middleburg are charged in the beating death of 22-year-old Donald Seebold III.  Their trial is scheduled to begin April 23rd in Snyder County Court.

BLOOMSBURG – The town of Bloomsburg received nearly $64,000 for upgrades to install 76 pedestrian crossing signs at intersections as well as two school zone signs and other safety improvements. The funding comes from a PennDOT Automated Red Light Enforcement program. Bloomsburg was one of nearly 270 municipalities applying for the funding. Other communities in the WGRC listening area receiving funding through the program include:
•    $8,900 to Ferguson Township in Centre County to upgrade a traffic signal with a LED signal;
•    $50,000 to Patton Township in Centre County for signal upgrades at North Atherton Place;
•    $22,750 to Flemington Borough in Clinton County for upgrades to the traffic light at the intersection of High and Huston streets;
•    $70,000 to Lewistown Borough in Mifflin County for traffic-control signal upgrades.
Statewide, approximately $4.7 million in grants will be distributed to 43 municipalities. The funding comes from fines from infractions at 21 intersections in Philadelphia.

GOWEN CITY – PennDOT will be staring a nearly $1.3 million dollar five-bridge rehabilitation project in early April. Three bridges in Northumberland County and one each in Columbia and Montour counties will be rehabilitated under the initiative. Today on Route 125, near Gowen City in East Cameron Township, Northumberland County one lane will be closed as crews work on a bridge over Mahanoy Creek. Work on the bridge is expected to be completed by May 24th.

LAKE FOREST, California - The Southern California church headed by popular evangelical Pastor Rick Warren announced Saturday that Warren’s 27-year-old son has committed suicide. The Associated Press reports, Warren’s Saddleback Valley Community Church said in a statement that Matthew Warren had struggled with mental illness and deep depression throughout his life. Warren, the author of the multimillion-selling book “The Purpose Driven Life,” said in an email to church staff that he and his wife had enjoyed a fun Friday evening with their son before Matthew Warren returned home to take his life in “a momentary wave of despair.”
